President Bola Tinubu has reconstituted a new board for the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPCL) limited company. This new change led to the removal of all the board members he appointed in November 2023, including the non-executive chairman, Pius Akinyelure, and Group CEO, Mele Kyari.
The new board has Engineer Bayo Ojulari as the new Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, while Ahmadu Musa Kida becomes the non-executive chairman. The other members chosen across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones are Bello Rabiu (North West), Yusuf Usman (North East), Babs Omotowa (North Central), former managing director of NLNG Austin Avuru (South-South), David Ige (South West) and Henry Obih (South East).

Also appointed are Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya , Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, and Aminu Said Ahmed from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to represent their respective ministries on the new board.
President Tinubu who announced the new changes, said the restructuring is designed to improve efficiency, attract investment, promote local content, and support gas development and economic diversification.
