KWAME NTOW AMOAH: CEO of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC)

Kwame Ntow Amoah is currently the chief executive officer (CEO) of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. He took over the position from Edward Bawa, who was reassigned to GOIL as managing director and group chief executive officer.

With his wealth of experience in the energy sector, Kwame Amoah is well positioned to lead GNPC. Before his appointment, he has held various key positions, among which are deputy chief executive at GNPC, advisor to the minister of energy, and director of petroleum at the Ministry of Energy.

He has also played a pivotal role in international arbitration cases involving Ghana and has secured significant investments for the country’s oil and gas projects.

His educational career shows that Kwame Amoah holds an MBA from IMD, Switzerland, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana.

In addition, he has participated in various international general leadership and management programmes and did specialised courses in energy and petroleum management.

He has also played a pivotal role in international arbitration cases involving Ghana and has secured significant investments for the country’s oil and gas projects.

PROFILE OF GNPCL

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is the state-owned oil and gas company in Ghana. Established in 1983, the GNPC is responsible for the exploration, production, and distribution of petroleum products in Ghana with the mandate to manage the country’s petroleum resources for the benefit of its citizens.

The GNPC engages in the exploration and production of oil and gas, both offshore and onshore, promotes development of Ghana’s petroleum resources, including the construction of pipelines and storage facilities, as well as monitoring and regulating activities of oil and gas companies in Ghana to ensure compliance with national policies and regulations.
