Walt Disney, an American pioneer, voice actor and entrepreneur in the animation industry, once said, “All dreams can come true if we have courage to pursue them.”

In agreement with this, the 6th United States of America president, John Quincy Adams, still talking about the power behind putting actions into every dream we shared, said “If your actions inspire others to do more, to learn more, to dream more or to become more, you are a leader.”

These two personalities are buttressing the fact that for every dream that a man dreams about, it is achievable if backed up with verifiable action and unstoppable courage. The just concluded Sub Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference 2025, held at the Eko Convention Center, Lagos and hosted by PETAN, is a testament to solid good planning that produced the deserved good result.

An overview of the three-day international event that ran from Tuesday, February 11th to Thursday, February 13th, showed that the organisers really put a lot into the entire package.

For example, the registration personnel that handled giving passes to delegates, visitors and the press men were well equipped with courtesy and friendly disposition to people they were meeting for the first time, added with speed to deliver on time. No wonder this journalist got his press pass sorted out under 5 minutes of joining the que.

Getting into the main conference hall was also seamless With well-positioned security men and women in and around the hall doing their assignment with Eagle eyes but very politely too. Add this to the heavily air-conditioned atmosphere, which contrasted with the burning temperature outside and with a well-furnished interior decoration, all delegates were in for a cool session for the opening ceremony and the rest of the days of the event.

SAIPEC 2025 also got a very good take-off with the keynote speech from the minister of state for petroleum resources (oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, who spoke frankly and directly to the African continental audience. He minced no words that “The time has come for Africa to enter a new era of strong will and determination to succeed and changed the narrative of poverty to that of positive abundance of energy needs for her teeming population ravaged by underdevelopment indices that are surmountable. He said the time is now for Africa to start looking inward and unbundle all the tremendous resources bestowed upon her by God to develop and occupy her rightful position among the giant nations of the world.

How about the various sessions that featured chief executives of oil and gas companies, both international and local. From their presentations, it was an obvious delightful thing that Africa is truly blessed with more than enough oil and gas resources to transform her destiny to first among equals.

The chairman of PETAN, Engr Wole Ogunsanya capped it all when he conducted dignitaries round the exhibition hall that was equally well structured and positioned to attract investors and other stakeholders who were eager to make enquiries on displayed products and services that the majority of the companies are showcasing at the conference. Watching Engr Ogunsanya as he moved from one stand to another, it is a thing of beauty to see his inner joy bubbling outside uncontrollably as he can see the product of good planning presenting undeniable success right before him.

To Engr Wole Ogunsanya, the PETAN chairman, the steering committee of SAIPEC 2025, and all stakeholders that made the nineth edition of the Africa’s international event on energy a huge success, it is a moment to be thankful to God that nothing evil was permitted to dim the glow of the conference and exhibition success.
