Executives and Their Drivers: The Way to Safety and Security

Over the years, executives have thought of themselves as not needing training when it comes to motoring and proper road usage. This view was borne out of the fact that they engage the services of drivers/chauffeurs. However, recent developments in matters of safety and security on the highways have put the notion as somewhat erroneous.

Executives and their drivers/chauffeurs have a unique relationship, – although, often underrated, – that demands trust, communication, professionalism and understanding.

Often, drivers/chauffeurs are regarded as ‘common’  by executives, an adjective that denotes that drivers, are to some degree, inconsequential and  less important in the scheme of things, yet, their ‘offices’ , I mean the vehicles manned by drivers and chauffeurs are in the realms of several millions, monetarily, when quantified.

This is aside the unquantifiable and invaluable lives of the executives and their families, who might have to be transported from one point to another. Hence, the need for every executive to learn and know the best ways and methods of handling their drivers and chauffeurs in order to maintain perfect and proper personal safety and security while the drivers and chauffeurs are engaged.

Some key things executives should know about their drivers and chauffeurs can be summed up as follows:

Background and qualifications, safety protocols, communication and etiquette, discretion and confidentiality, health and wellness, route optimisation and time management, emergency preparedness, vehicle maintenance, technology and navigation, performance evaluation and feedback.

Others are respectful tone, clear instructions, punctuality, setting boundaries, confidentiality, and discretion.

Going further, time management, respect and professionalism, appreciation, safety considerations and SWOT analysis are not left out in the needed knowledge by the executives.

Knowing and understanding all of these are capable of bringing about, for the executives, increased productivity, improved safety, enhanced reputation and reduction in stress.

Over the years, attention has always been placed on driver’s training and all of those stuffs, with little or no attention being given to the fact that the executives that engaged drivers and chauffeurs also require some measure of training as well. As it were, in matters of safety and security while using the roads, success like failure turns out to be a joint venture between the executives and their drivers. Just as the executive is a star in his field, so is the driver.

To gain more of this knowledge and for mutually assured benefits between the executives and drivers, the services of Providence and Safety Consultancy can be employed.
