Apitherapy Can Create Jobs, Promote Healthier Nigerians –Bee Conservation Project CEO, Mr. Tunde Fabnumi

The CEO of Bee Conservation Project (BCP) Nigeria, Mr. Tunde Fabunmi, has called for the inclusion of apitherapy—the use of honey and other bee products—as a course of study in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, and by so doing, jobs, wealth, and a longer healthier life can be promoted among Nigerians.

“Many chronic diseases defy orthodox medicine,” noted the conservation expert, while “Apitherapy provides cures for ailments because honey and other bee products contain the healing properties of all plants in the ecosystem.”.

Mr. Fabunmi spoke to Crude Reports Magazine at a recent interview. Aside Apitherapy, another policy change he would like to see is the inclusion of beekeeping as another course of study in our universities. According to the ASHOKA fellow, if “Beekeeping is made a course in the universities and polytechnics, it will stem rising youth unemployment, enhance entrepreneurship, offer job and wealth creation, improve food production, ensure food security, and greatly reduce poverty. “Beekeeping is the catalyst for agriculture, which is the bedrock of socio-economic development in Africa.”

One of the challenges Mr. Fabunmi has faced as a Bee conservation expert is that Nigerian government has turned a blind eye to the endless wealth from honeybee resources. “Honeybee is a bigger source of wealth with added value in terms of environmental protection for our nation than oil exploration, which is usually accompanied by pollution of our environment. “What can a man achieve with a project that touches everybody in the country with our 200 million people, without government involvement and support?” he lamented.

When asked about the specific health conditions and allergies faced by middle aged men and women which honey can help to alleviate, Mr. Fabunmi stated that the health conditions Nigerian men and women face are many, which include ulcer, pot belly, asthma, foot ulcer, infections, hypertension, skin disease, diabetes, tooth ache, poor urine, all of which can be prevented and cured with proper use of raw honey.

“Raw honey is not just the peak of nutrition, it is also a drug from God’s pharmacy and life insurance. No disease can defy the healing powers of raw honey properly administered by people with knowledge of Apitherapy.

Mr. Fabunmi offered advice on how honey can be incorporated into a healthy diet. “Honey can be added to teas, and other grains, cereals at a warm temperature, while roasted meat can also be spiced with honey for easy digestion and absorption of its nutrients.
